By having your child’s eyes examined regularly and equally is important, selecting safe, impact-resistant lenses made of polycarbonate. Learning is visual, so eye care is critical! Twenty-five percent of kids struggle with vision problems that impact learning. Eighty percent of everything a child learns in his first 12 years comes through his eyes. If corrective lenses are needed, select lighter, stronger and safer lenses such as Airwear. Airwear lenses offer safe, durable lenses for children, those who like to play sports and those who push their lenses to the limit.
With that in mind, below are Ten tips to ensure a healthy, safe and successful school year!
.Check ups & Immunizations~ Routine exams and screenings help our children prevent, identify, and treat health problems before they arrive.Vaccines greatly reduce your our kids risks of serious illness.Yearly vision and hearing exams are just important.
.Healthy Sleep~ Childrens health and behavior take a nose dive when their sleep habits are out of whack.Adequate sleep will boost our kids energy & enthusiasm.Set a regular time for bed each night and stick to it!
.Nutrition Points~ Eating right will help provide the nutrients needed to have energy, build some bones, fight deseases and other conditions. Pay attention to how much your child eats. Offer simular choices instead of icecream, offer yogart or soda crackers. Provide variety, select snacks from a variety of food groups and be creative.
.Travel to and from school~school bus riders- dont play in the street while waiting for the bus, walkers- wait for signal from the bus driver before crossing the street, walk where the driver can see you, never walk alone, always travel with a buddy, respect traffic lights and street signs. Passangers- make sure young children are in safety seats at all times.
.Backpack safety~pack light-should never weigh more than 10-20 percent of student body weight, always use both shoulder straps. They can strain their muscles by slinging a backpack over only one shoulder.
.Get moving~Physical activity is beneficial for children, effects on the weight, muscular strength, bone mass, anxiety, stress and self-esteem. So work with your childs school to ensure the activity is age appropiate and ensure safety.
.School bullying-Sit down with your child every so often and ask questions, talk about how important it is to report bullying and how it would feel if they were a bully.
.Internet safety-Learn all you can learn about parental controls on your childs computer, monitor thier activity and help keep them aware of all the dangers out there with giving out their information.
.School homework~ check papers daily and keep open communication with teachers.
.Get involved with school- volunteer at your childs school, join the PTO,maybe participate in bake sales or fund raisers, boxtops, bake sales, try to be involved as much as you can.Shaparon field trips, get to know who is involved with your childs daily activities, reach out to other parents, stay focused and positive.
