Our Children Are Our Future

                                     Our Children Are Our Future

As Parents it's so important for us to support our children by encouraging them to stay in school. They are our future in this world. Our children go through so many challenges and struggles to make it through the school years. So much bullying and peer-pressure is always lurking some where. Are we doing all we can do to help stop school bullying?Do you feel as the teachers are doing their parts as teachers to prevent it?
This topic is so important to me and it makes me sad when I watch t.v news and the headlines are stories of kids being bullied. How do you feel about this?Do you think as parents were doing all we can?How can we help stop this? Are we taking those extra minutes out our hectic day to talk with our kids?

Please feel free to comment about bullying, share some tips or vent.I'd love to read what how you feel about this.
Thanks

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)

 Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)

Many more children die of SIDS in a year than all who die of cancer, heart disease, pneumonia, child abuse, AIDS, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined . . .

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is a medical term that describes the sudden death of an infant which remains unexplained after all known and possible causes have been carefully ruled out through autopsy, death scene investigation, and review of the medical history. SIDS is responsible for more deaths than any other cause in childhood for babies one month to one year of age, claiming 150,000 victims in the United States in this generation alone - 7,000 babies each year -nearly one baby every hour of every day. It strikes families of all races, ethnic and socioeconomic origins without warning; neither parent nor physician can predict that something is going wrong. In fact, most SIDS victims appear healthy prior to death.

At this time there is no known way to prevent SIDS in all cases, but there are steps parents and caregivers can take to reduce the risk of sudden infant death:

Always, place babies on their back when sleeping.Tummy and side positions are NOT safe.

You shouldn't smoke while being pregnant and if you do smoke once your baby is born do Not expose them to second hand smoke.

Always check safety recall lists so your baby is resting in a safe crib, play pen or another bedding here

Use a pacifier at nap and nighttime for the first year.

Please help educate anyone you know who cares for a baby about these important safety tips...  If you have any tips that you would like to share please feel free to comment below.

(For more facts, risks and prevention about S.I.D.S please click here.)

Thanks for reading, this topic is so important to know about.

10 Tips For Keeping Your Family Safe on the Road

10 Tips For Keeping Your Family Safe on the Road

SocialMoms has teamed up with Safelite AutoGlass for a new call for blog submissions, you can read more about this request here
As a Parent I worry about the safety of my kids as any other Parent would.Unfortunately, anything could happen while traveling on the road. It's very important to be prepared the best way you can in case of an accident.I want to share my 10 tips with you about how to keep your family safe on the road.I hope they will help someone out. Please share some of your tips as well, let's get these tips out even if they will help at least one person.

Did you know that Safelite AutoGlass saves approximately 35,000 tons of CO2 during windshield production each year, enough to fill the Empire State Building approximately 19 times. In addition, it saves the number of damaged windshields being sent to the landfill by approximately 12,500 tons annually.

  1. Before you travel a long distance always get a safety service on your vehicle.Safelite is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to schedule auto glass service. With mobile service, they will come out to your car.
  2. Forget do-it-yourself repair kits. The resin could easily shrink or yellow, lowering the quality of the repair. Safelite AutoGlass uses a patented repair process… A vacuum is created over the damaged area and the resin penetrates and fills the finest micro-cracks. The technician pulls off the vacuum changer and the UV light hardens the resin. Safelite’s resin is proven to be the strongest and longest lasting on the market
  3. Always keep a first-aid kit in your vehicle glove box or some place everyone knows where to find it.Keep the necessary equipment and tools in case of a flat tire.Any liquids that may be needed such as windshield fluid, oil, ect
  4. Check the weather report for your area and your destination before your planned trip to prevent any driving in bad conditions such as sleet ,snow, ice and rain.Even with new tires accidents could occur.
  5. Keep a membership with a roadside service in case your keys get locked in or lost, even if you need towing. Most memberships include 24hour service.
  6. Stick to the speed limit, speeding can be result in an accident and a speeding ticket.Always stop at the stop signs and never, ever run a red light.
  7. Keep your eye on the road at all times.Don't mess around with cell phones, ipods or things that will distract you.If you have kids in the car maybe you can take another adult along to help keep an eye on the kids while your eye is on the road.
  8. Make sure your car has a full tank of gas and know where gas stations are located while on the road. You can map request their locations before your trip.Keep a gas can as well.
  9. If you take medication always read the bottle to see if it's safe to drive when taking the meds. Some medicine can make you very drowsy and fall asleep.
  10. Keep your child proof locks on the car doors, make sure the seat belts are all secure and working.
I hope these tips help, please feel free to comment with some of your tips as well! We can never be to safe!
