10 Great uses for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly

TwittterMoms  and Vaseline Petroleum Jelly has teamed up to celebrate Vaseline's 140th Anniversary! They have asked me to share 10 Great uses for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly to my readers, you can read more about that request here.

If your anything like me then you love to save every penny you can these days.Im always hunting for bargains and brainstorming many different ways a product could be used.I purchase my Vaseline Petroleum Jelly very cheap at the Dollar Store and it lasts a good 6mths.I have found so many uses for it that i save more money becuase it helps cut down the cost of other products that gives the same if not better results! I have come up with a list to give you ideas of the many ways Vaseline can be used. You might be suprised as i was when i learned them as well.

My 10 Great Uses for Vaseline Petroleum Jelly
  1. Lip balm, exfoliant and lip gloss- By gently rubbing the Vaseline onto the tip of your forefinger and applying it to your lips it will moisturize and help soothe dry chapped lips.It lasts a while unlike many chapsticks.
  2. Make up remover- Do you ever get those stubborn mascara smudges and lip stick stains?Apply a drop of Vaseline to the area you wish to remove and it wipes right off like magic as well as soothing the eye area.
  3. Prevents Chafting- I love to walk barefeet alot and in return the heels of my feet chaft,i was spending near $10 for cream to fix this problem intill i tried the Vaseline. It helps the elbow area and feet.
  4. Protects Nails- By applying some Vaseline on the base of your nails it stops the color from running.Ladies we all know how that makes us upset!
  5. Water Rings on Wood Furniture- Rub Vaseline on the damaged area and let it stand for a few hours or over night, remove it with a paper towel then buff it with a soft cloth.
  6. Shine shoes and purses-Apply a thin coat and wipe with a soft cloth,it will rebel water and road salt.
  7. Stop squeaky doors- By applying a layer of vaseline on the hinge pin it will take the noise away. You will be more at peace when the door opens or shuts!
  8. Tight finger rings- If you wear a ring for so long and want to remove it without the tightness and painful feeling, apply some Vaseline gently around the ring and remove the ring slowly by twisting it a few times it should slip on off easily.
  9. Stuck super glue cap-I hate when i would use super glue for the 2nd time and try to open the cap just to find it all glued and stuck. When you first open the super glue apply some Vaseline inside of the cap and it will prevent the glue from sticking to it.
  10. Baby's diper rash- Vaseline is so gentle and soothing to use for a diper rash.Apply a small layer on the dry area and it will help with the irritating feeling a baby has to feel.

I hope these tips can be helpful to you,if you would like to please feel free to share some!

Be Smart About Your Health

TwitterMoms and Aetna has teamed up together with bloggers to help offer our readers tips for preparing  our next year health insurance benifits. You can read more about the request here

It can be so difficult and time consuming to choose health benifits that will help with meeting our family's needs. With the new health reform law we must be more selective and understand what is just right and be ok with our decisions. This is no easy task but it must be done!

In order to help us cut through the confusion and take Advantage of Open Enrollment along with alot of other helpful information we may need throughout the year, you can read a educationa portal developed by Aetna Be Smart About Your Health it offers many tips and tools along with ways to save money. It will keep you up to date with the health care reform.

Below are a few tips to help you make a decision in less then an hour:

  1. Prioritize- use careful thought of how many check up visits you will need for your family in the up coming year along with medications that might be needed requardless if they are over the counter or prescribed.Look back into your previous year and do an estimate so you could have a good idea.
  2. Check out the networks available to see that your family will be seen by a Dr. that your comfortable with. Will you need an out of network Dr.?
  3. Figure out your prescription costs, premiums, out of pocket pay and co-pays.Make sure you choose what your family can afford. You dont want to choose something thats way over your head!
  4. Check out the benifits that go along with your plan.Do they offer gym discounts? Will they cover different services you may need such as enrolling in a Health Savings Account?Do they cover counceling or specialist services? Dental?
  5. Make sure you understand everything,we have rights,we have to be sure to understand every detail that is included with your choice.Know the pro's and con's,think about what your family needs and choose wisely.

The Devil is a Lier

3 weeks ago my 15yr old son's heart specialist said that his heart condition had got worse, and said more then likely he will need a major open heart surgory which more then likely will take place right after his next test and it could be something that had to be done like that day,day after,or week or so, also stating at this point it was something life/death threatning. That next test was yesterdays appt.,we hit the highway for about an hr to be evaluated by another specialist that this Droctor refered him to see for the assesment prior to the surgory.None of us knew really what the outcome of that trip would be but we still kept our heads up and knew my son would be ok regardless what happens. The Specialist my son saw yesterday gave him his assesment and sent us on our way HOME with a 6-9mth follow up!!! Let me tell you how THE DEVIL IS A LIAR & GOD IS GOOD!! My son is in his own bed right now as i type sleeping so peacefully.Tell me this isnt a blessing??We all must keep our faith and belief,no matter what a Dr or anyone says because at the end of the day its in GODS HANDS.
Thanks for all the prayers that went out as well!
