Children are a Blessing

Children are a Blessing

If children live with criticism, they learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility, they learn to fight.
If children live with fear, they learn to be apprehensive.
If children live with pity, they learn to feel sorry for themselves.
If children live with ridicule, they learn to feel shy.
If children live with jealousy, they learn to feel envy.
If children live with shame, they learn to feel guilty.
If children live with encouragement, they learn confidence.
If children live with tolerance, they learn patience.
If children live with praise, they learn appreciation.
If children live with acceptance, they learn to love.
If children live with approval, they learn to like themselves.
If children live with recognition, they learn it is good to have a goal.
If children live with sharing, they learn generosity.
If children live with honesty, they learn truthfulness.
If children live with fairness, they learn justice.
If children live with kindness and consideration, they learn respect.
If children live with security, they learn to have faith in themselves and in those about them.
If children live with friendliness, they learn the world is a nice place in which to live.

As parents sometimes we can get so side tracked in life with working, household chores, budgets and what ever else is going on in our daily life's. Things can become very overwhelming especially when time doesn't seem to be long enough in a day. We can get so focused on these things and don't realize that our children can use a extra hug, maybe some words of encouragement or to be told "I love you".

I love the above poem as the words are so true. Our children grow up and become their own person and have their own personalities but I truely believe a huge part of who they become will have so much to do with how their raised, how they were loved, what they see and hear in their young life's.

We can be great parents but there is always something extra we can say or do to show our children more love. Children are such a blessing in this world. I'm sure we all would be so lost without them. Many people would love to be parents but unfortunately for some reason some can't. Some can have medical problems or for whatever reason they just can't have kids. For this reason I thank God everyday for blessing me with my 4 children. I'm not sure where I'd be in my life without them.

Our children are a blessing,
Please feel free to share with us by commenting below with the ways your child/children make you proud and what we can all do to help them mature into young respectful adults. I'd love to read your tips, suggestions and responses.
